Direct Impact

Provide a fun and safe place for students during after school hours

Provide positive interaction with caring adult role models

Encourage and develop life skills, respect for others, and positive social interaction

Introduce and engage youth in positive, potential life-long recreational/sporting pursuits

Provide an academic focus with time to complete homework, read, and receive assistance/tutoring & college prep.

 

 

Indirect Impact

Support an active learning environment in the school

Provide a balanced lifestyle for youth participants

Effectively increase health, wellness and fitness for youth

Potentially decrease juvenile crime

 

 

 

After-Care Program

RIHD Youth After-care Literacy program to serves 35 combined students from partnering schools (elementary, middle and high school).  A three day a week that includes homework, tutoring, SOL preps, college prep, and snack.

 

Weekend Program

RIHD Youth Weekend Program to serve up to 70 students, every Saturday throughout the school year.  On site and off site programs.  Non-traditional sports, mentoring, nutritional education, community service, book club, travel, culture

 

 

Summer Day Camp

RIHD Youth Summer Program enrolls 70 students, ranging in age from 7 to 13.  RIHD Youth hosts two four-week/5 summer day camps (one for elementary school students, the other for middle school students). Both camps combine book club literacy, nutritional/gardening education, travel and culture.
