Dear Friends,
Since 2002, Resource Information Help for the Disadvantaged (RIHD) has played a major role with transportation service to low income families; families without transportation with incarcerated family member in faraway Virginia state prisons (eight hours or more in distance each way).
This initiative stems from our belief, through regular outside visitation by family and loved ones
will keep families connected and increase prisoner rehabilitation.
Some family members, have not been able to visit their incarcerated loved one(s) for years until our RIHD transportation service became available. Since, consistent and regular visitation, we
have seen measurable and positive intervention, re-connection amongst the prisoner, their children, family and loved one, increasing the likelihood of a more productive community reentry and
lessening recidivism.
Due to declining private donations to subsidize the needed transportation, the past three
years we have struggled to provide continuous low-cost subsidized transportation to the
families and their incarcerated loved one.
Consider donating to RIHD Transportation Service that is consistent with the mission and
interest for a safer Virginia. Listed below are several ways to assist the transportation service
initative. Donations of $25 or more are fully tax deductible to you per Internal Revenue
Service 501(c)3 Regulations.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Lillie Branch-Kennedy
